1988 – David Forbes

I feel very fortunate to have lived the hockey experience in Clinton, New York, and thankful that my parents got us involved at a young age.  Memories of the friends I made and the coaches that inspired me are with me today.

Growing up, we worshipped the high school hockey team, and lived for Friday night games to kick off a weekend of youth hockey. During my years on the high school hockey team, my greatest thrill was playing on the team with my brother John, he a freshman and I a senior, under Coach Kane and Coach Suppe. Such great memories competing against each other during practice, and teamed with our friends in great rivalries against New Hartford and RFA.

My greatest memory is that of the 1988 Clinton Holiday Tournament game against a strong Salmon River team. After holding a tie after overtime, we went to a shootout. After a brief time out, Coach Kane gave his orders from the bench “Forbsie…Kels…and Forbsie” for the shootout. Sure enough, the two seniors came up short, and little brother John went 5-hole with the game-winner. A great day.
