March, 1968 – Ken Wesley

I had the good fortune of traveling with the Hamilton College hockey team to the ECAC Division II Playoffs some 50 years ago, as a spectator.

In the semi-final game on March 6, 1968, against Colby, on their home ice, my recollection is that we trailed by a score of 3-1 before the Continentals literally exploded with 5 unanswered goals and won 6-3.

In the final game on March 9, again as visitors, we played a very powerful Merrimack team that had a schedule that included several Division I schools. Hamilton lost the game 5-4. The score was close largely because of our goalie Kevin Kennedy. He was REMARKABLE! He turned away so many shots on goal. (Someone needs to look up the number).

That entire team of 1967-68 was outstanding and gave all of us at Hamilton some wonderful memories. I will never forget them.
