2001 – David Litz

After playing professionally for five years, Dave Litz settled back in Clinton, his home town. He coached youth hockey for several years, primarily Pee Wee and Bantam. In 1999, Dave became Assistant High School Hockey Coach, and in 2001 took over as Head Coach.

During the next seven seasons, Litz’s teams captured three Section III titles (2004-2005, 2005-2006, and 2006-2007) and back-to-back Division II state titles (2005 and 2006) with identical records of 26 wins, 1 loss, and 3 ties (a Clinton High School record).

Dave was selected as Section III Coach of the Year in 2001-2002 and 2006-2007. Following the 2004-2005 season, he was named NYS Coach of the Year. Dave capped off a successful coaching career by being named to the NYS High School Hockey Hall of Fame in Lake Placid. His overall record over seven seasons: 139 wins, 40 losses, and 11 ties (a winning percentage of 73%).

Dave resides in Clinton with his wife and children, works for Clinton Moving & Packaging, Inc., and serves on the Board of the Greater Utica Professional Hockey Association. Dave is still passionate about teaching kids, and volunteers for Clinton Youth Hockey, running clinics and hockey schools.
