1981 – David Lahey

The 1981-82 season was an ECAC bid year, and the Conts played very well. Sparky Marta led the scoring, we finished 11-13, and almost beat Colgate at home. We beat West Point in a 3-1 thriller. This was the event that followed the famous missing earlier game at West Point, where a captain hat was stolen from the mess hall and given to Marta for scoring 3 goals in a game. Coach Karin was running the team along with Captain Pete Smith and Dave Lahey. We had several off-ice issues that took some of our steam away from on-ice success. We also had the thriller at Oswego State, where Lahey scored in an overtime 10-9 finish. It was the year when the famous Bingemobile was invented, to be actually delivered in 1983 on campus with the DU and DKE houses driving it home.
