1958 – Don Spencer

At Hamilton I played 4 years, captained the 1958-1959 team, received All-East Small College recognition in 2 seasons, received a personal invitation to try out for the 1960 Olympic Team from Jack Riley, and worked with Gene Long in his development of the first form-fitting fiberglass facemask in 1959.

After Hamilton, I played on several senior amateur teams, was head coach of a New England preparatory school, high school coach in the Pittsburgh area, intermediate-level coaching instructor in the USA Hockey organization, head coach and general manager for an ACHA Div. I intercollegiate team for 11 years, and privileged to be one of three founding members of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, first chair of its rules committee, and a first inductee in its HOF. (ACHA now has 3 men’s and 2 women’s divisions, with more than 450 intercollegiate teams.)
